UHV: drive transmission equipment manufacturing industry fully upgraded

On the morning of October 21, Academician Chen Weijiang of State Grid Corporation of China attended the academic report conference of "Science and Technology Frontier Forum" of Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Electrical Engineering and gave an academic report on the innovative practice of developing UHV transmission in China. The report will be presided by Deputy Director Song Tao researcher.

Academician Chen Weijiang is currently deputy chief engineer and professor-level senior engineer of State Grid Corporation of China, a high-voltage and insulation technical expert. In November 2015, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has been engaged in the research of electromagnetic transient analysis and protection technology for power system for many years and has presided over the basic problems of electromagnetic and insulation characteristics of AC / DC UHV transmission systems. He proposed the overvoltage suppression method and insulation coordination scheme to support UHV power transmission independently developed in China Technology. The mechanism of pilot discharge of power grid lightning and the mechanism of lightning disconnection of insulated lines are systematically studied. A differentiated protection method based on probability distribution of lightning risk is proposed, which is widely used in power system and traction power supply system of high-speed rail.

Mr. Chen first introduced the reason and background of developing UHV transmission in China, summarized the operation and problems encountered in UHV transmission lines in the world, and introduced the overall route and technical guidelines for the development of UHV transmission in China. Professor Chen introduced in detail the basic research work in the development of UHV transmission in our country, especially for the key scientific problems such as corona discharge, external insulation discharge and internal insulation discharge, put forward the solution of discharge control and made breakthrough innovation Results.

Academician Chen pointed out in his report that after more than 10 years of collaborative innovation practice, China has fully mastered the UHV transmission technology and has the capability to independently design, construct and operate the project. At present, China has independently built the world's highest voltage level, The strongest "three pay four straight" UHV project, is building "four cross six straight" UHV project. Through the construction of UHV transmission project, China has enhanced its voice and influence in the field of international electrician and promoted the comprehensive upgrading of transmission and transformation equipment manufacturing industry.

Finally, Prof. CHEN conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with the teachers and students of the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences on such topics as the prospect of UHV transmission, core technology, insulation, as well as China's energy demand and energy internet.
