South African Court Judgment Reopens Anti-Dumping Investigation on China's Tire

According to South African media reports, South Africa's Gaudeng North High Court recently ruled that the South African International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) rejected South Africa's International Trade Administration Commission and South Africa on the grounds that it had not conducted a comprehensive investigation of China’s market economy status. In 2007, the Ministry of Trade and Industry decided to terminate the anti-dumping investigation on China's auto tyres originating from the country of origin or place of import, and in turn requested the South African International Trade Commission to complete a new anti-dumping investigation within four months.

The South African auto tire market has annual sales of over 10 billion rand (about 1.35 billion U.S. dollars), and automotive tire manufacturers have about 6,000 employees. The South African Tire Manufacturers Association (SATMC) is a representative of the interests of major manufacturers including Bridgestone, Horse Tire, Dunlop, and Goodyear Tire.
