Scania's new V8 heavy truck completes conversion to Euro 6

Scania, a passenger and vehicle engine manufacturer, said recently that the company’s new V8 heavy truck has completed the conversion to the European emission standard No.6.

Scania declared that this marks the final step of creating a new power platform for the Euro 6 standard. The new V8 engine has a maximum torque of 3,500 Nm and a power of 730 hp and is designed in a modular series. The engine is based on a modular engine platform design and the company's new inline five- or six-cylinder engine technology, while inheriting the performance characteristics of the existing V8 engine and universal components.

Jonas Hofstedt, head of research and development for Scania Power Systems, revealed: "Scania currently has enough technical solutions and engine platforms to meet the Euro 6 standard technical requirements that will take effect in 2013."

According to Scania, the company's V8 truck series models reflect an efficient product positioning for both driver and transportation companies while introducing new engines.

Henrik Henriksson, Scania's vice president of truck operations, pointed out: "Scania's V8 heavy trucks have already found an accurate positioning in the truck market. Scania V8's major customers use rationality as a procurement guide, they need the product to own Excellent performance."
