Parts Supplier Continental Group Asia Headquarters Opens New Building

Recently, the global auto parts supplier German Continental Group announced that its new Asian headquarters and research and development center in Yangpu District, Shanghai has been officially completed and put into operation.

It is reported that the building is not only the Asian headquarters of the Continental Group, but also an important R&D center of the Continental Group. It is mainly responsible for the design and testing of automotive electronic products. Another Jiading R&D center in Jiading, Shanghai, was put into use in April of this year. It is mainly used to develop and test electronic brake systems, hydraulic brake systems, and engine management and control systems. The total investment in the above two projects is as high as 60 million euros. “It is expected that sales in Asia will account for at least 25% of the Continental Group’s global sales in 2013, of which the enormous growth potential of the Chinese business has a significant influence,” said Helmut Matschi, member of the Continental Executive Board and president of the Body Electronic Systems Division. Asia is the fastest growing market for the Continental Group and the scale of exports has continued to expand.
