Enaex Miner Robotics: or is expected to automate mining

Enaex, a Chilean company that provides blasting services to mine operators, recently partnered with research and development firm SRI International to try to create a miners robot and call the robotics solution RoobMiner. The humanoid robot consists of a biomimetic torso, head and arm. The payload on the machine includes sensors that enable stereo vision, force feedback, scene rendering and positioning. It is mounted on a mobile platform with four solid wheels and can be remotely controlled to work in a dangerous mine environment to suit a variety of topographical conditions and move like a human being over a load range of 5-10 kg . This allows operators to reach the high-risk mining areas that threaten human security. Initially planned to operate in open pit mines, the robot will eventually be mined underground.
