Generally, the large diameter ball is replenished, and the ball filling amount should be determined according to the steel ball wear rate (the wear amount per ton of coal ball) and the amount of coal. After the coal mill is running for a certain period of time, the number of small diameter steel balls in the cylinder increases. Therefore, after running for about 3000 hours, it is necessary to stop the steel ball to remove the ball with a diameter of less than 15mm and the broken ball, and make up the new ball at the same time.

Correct use of ball mill steel balls:

The newly installed ball mill has a running-in process. During the running-in process, the amount of steel balls is added for the first time, accounting for 80 % of the maximum ball loading of the ball mill. The proportion of steel balls added can be according to the size of the steel ball ( Φ120 mm, Φ100 mm, Φ80 mm, Φ60 mm, Φ40 mm) size added. Different ball mill models have different ball loadings. For example, the maximum loading capacity of the MQG1500×3000 ball mill is 9.5-10 tons. The first addition of steel balls ( 120 mm and 100 mm) accounted for 30%-40 %, the medium ball 80 mm accounted for 40%-30 %, and the small balls ( 60 and 40 mm) accounted for 30 %.

Why is the ball mill ball volume only 80 % added during the ball mill running-in process? After the ball mill is installed, the ball mill size gear needs to be meshed, and the processing capacity should be gradually increased. After the ball mill is running normally for two or three days, check the meshing of the large and small gears. Wait until everything is normal, open the ball mill manhole cover and add the remaining 20 % steel ball for the second time.

Installation and maintenance of steel ball mill:
