Maruti Suzuki Automobile Co., Ltd. plans to purchase diesel engines from Fiat India. The plan has already been approved by Tata Motors.
Fiat India is a joint venture between Fiat Auto and Tata Motors, each holding 50%. Fiat India's Ranjangaon plant near Pune not only produces engines but also Fiat Punto and Linea models. The plant annually produces 300,000 cars and diesel engines.
According to the Financial Express (Financial Express) report, Fiat India will supply diesel engines to Maruti Suzuki from January next year.
The purchase of diesel engines from Fiat India will help Maruti Suzuki reduce the delivery time of Swift, Swift Dzire, SX4 and Ritz models.
